The project will deploy four pilots across European cities (in Santander, Spain; Tuscany, Italy; West Midlands, UK; Novi Sad, Serbia) lasting between 12 and 15 months each where large scale intelligent, mobile and interoperable technologies will be deployed to optimise the capacity and the use of infrastructure. The whole value chain will be involved in each pilot in order to ensure an effective deployment in each pilot as well as ensure the sustainability beyond the pilot phase.
Using these pilots, the project will evaluate their efficiency and impact with the aid of user-focused tests that will be carried out throughout the pilot's lifecycle as user participation is seen as a key tool in obtaining relevant results. These user tests will begin with an initial group of service pioneers, between 15-50 users depending on the pilot, that will be involved in the evaluation as soon as possible once the pilots are deployed. The user study will then ramp up throughout the pilot execution, eventually involving hundreds of users working with the pilots in their evaluation and monitoring. The project will also guarantee, through the creation of Business Plans and a thorough management scheme, the sustainable deployment of the systems and services of the project. The pilots will complement each other to a great extent, with both pilots making use of a unique interoperability framework designed for use in region-wide transport service deployments, requiring the integration of the services upon this framework. Finally, the continuous evaluation and results gathering from all the pilots, as well as user evaluations, will culminate in a set of conclusions and recommendations that should empower any future deployments as well as identify any technical gaps that might have been discovered during the evaluation or execution of the pilots.
