MobiWallet Final Event

Next Tuesday 27th of September, Santander will host the final event of the project MobiWallet, which main target is to allow integrated payment for any transport mode, public or personal, and the provision of intelligent services to improve mobility, taking advance of the latest ICT advances and Smartphone capabilities.

Co-financed by the EU Innovation and Competitiveness Framework Program (CIP), MobiWallet project is coordinated by Indra, in collaboration with 14 companies and state bodies that are running four national pilot programs in the cities of Santander in Spain (INDRA, Ayuntamiento de Santander, University of Cantabria, Banco Santander, TST),  Florence and Pisa in Italy (INTECS, CNR, Aleph, GEST, Comune di Firenze),  West Midlands region in the United Kingdom (Centro, TTR), and Novi Sad in Serbia (DunavNET, JGSP "Novi Sad"City of Novi Sad). The four pilots have tested a range of systems (NFC; QR codes, augmented reality, SMS) and have covered a variety of transport modes, but all share the same objective, vision and approach. This has ensured that MobiWallet has not only driven progress toward the design of a single and interoperable payment solution for the different modes of transport involved in each pilot program, but also allowed users in one city to buy tickets for transport in another, either via the same application or by providing simple access to apps used by other cities without the need of registering again and even using the credit available in the transport virtual wallet of their city.  Moreover, MobiWallet also offers additional services to make for better mobility and render transport smarter and more sustainable, such as multi-modal route planning, smart fare selection, the use of augmented reality to access transport and real-time information on transport options, parking availability and car sharing opportunities.

During the event the partners will share the projects results and lessons learnt for the future deployment of these systems, including demonstrations of the technologies deployed and being used by hundreds of travellers in the pilot cities.

The complete agenda of the day is available here: www.mobiwallet-project.eu/docs/MobiWallet_Final_Event.pdf

Attendance to the event is free, but registration is mandatory. If you interested, please send us an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

MobiWallet Workshop at TRA 2016

MobiWallet is going to participate to Transport Research Arena (TRA 2016), that will be held from 18th to 21st April 2016 in Warsaw.
Come and meet us at MobiWallet stand! You can find us in the Promenade at booth R-26.
You are also welcome to join MobiWallet Workshop that will be held on 18th April at 2.30 pm in Warsaw room as a side event of TRA 2016. The workshop will allow you to discover what services are running in our pilots, how we are measuring and evaluating them and which is the lesson we have learnt so far.

Spanish Pilot Presentation

This week we focus on the Spanish Pilot being deployed in the city of Santander. The pilot takes place mostly in the city's Urban Zone, covering this area's transport almost in its entirety, but it also includes some outlying areas, particularly those covered by the Pedreñeras (private ferry) available from the city centre to nearby towns in the metropolitan area.

MobiTickt App promoted in Florence Metropolitan Area

Florence Municipality published on January 28 a press release promoting MobiTickt, the app provided byMobiWallet Italian Pilot that allows to buy tickets and travel around Florence Metropolitan Area by tram, bus and train (on urban routes). MobiTickt also permits to pay for parking in selected locations in Scandicci; this is a particular useful solution for commuters opting for park&ride.

"The project is currently in its experimental stage" said Stefano Giorgetti, Councillor for public works, infrastructure projects, roads and maintenance, local public transport – thus it is important to use and test the application that , in future , will involve more and more services for mobility For this reason, I invite the citizens to download and use the application".

MobiTickt app is available from the Google Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alephprogetti.mobiwalletbus

2nd MobiWallet Pilot Demonstration

We are proud to announce the 2nd MobiWallet Pilot demonstration which will take place in the City of Novi Sad, Serbia on 27th January 2016. The event follows the 1st MobiWallet Pilot Demonstration that was performed in Florence and Pisa in July 2015.

During the day, the four pilots that are currently being deployed through Europe will present their recent achievements and discuss the key technologies that are being tested towards an improved integrated fare management. The main objective is to encourage modal shift and sustainable mobility, facilitating payments and ease of use, fostering interoperable solutions for frictionless travel, even at cross-border level.   Presentation of the Serbian pilot will start at 10am and it will be followed by demonstrations of Italian, Spanish and the UK pilot. Demonstrations will conclude at 1:15pm.

The event is hosted by DunavNET, Antona Čehova 1, Novi Sad.  Please contact us if you would like to attend (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

UK Pilot Presentation

This week we focus on the UK Pilot being deployed in West Midlands.

The UK pilot in West Midlands, Birmingham, implements a fare management engine named 'MobiWallet Engine', offering a complete public transport mobility solution for the region, in partnership with a number of private travel operators. Our solution is using current Swift Smartcard platform provided by CENTRO (who is leading UK pilot) to enhance and develop a full end to end ticket-less service offering.

CIVINET UKI / MobiWallet Joint Event

Personal Mobility & the Mobile Phone

Using smart technology to deliver Sustainable Mobility

On November 24, in Birmingham, we had the first joint event between CIVINET UK & Ireland and MobiWallet. The focus of this public event was on Personal Mobility and the Smartphone. Indeed, the introduction of mobile phone apps has deeply transformed the way business communicates with its customers and enabled local authorities to engage in a smarter way with their communities. Personal mobility has been enhanced by access to this latest technology, which can represent an essential part in encouraging sustainable travel.

The day has focused on the use of mobile phone applications that aim at improving access to smarter choices in mobility while providing better adaptation to users' needs. Notably, the rich program included the following presentations:
